Options for Laser Vision Correction

1. Custom Wavefront  LASIK: The CustomVue LASIK Procedure

The CustomVue LASIK procedure may help you see better than you ever could with eye glasses, contact lenses or reading glasses. The CustomVue procedure measures unique imperfections on the surface of your eye using wavescan technology. The VISX excimer laser then reshapes the front of your eye for greater accuracy and better night vision. Many patients may see even better than 20/20 after a CustomVue procedure.  

2. Bladeless LASIK: Intralase

This is a variation of the custom LASIK procedure where a laser is used to lift a thin layer from the eye prior to the laser reshaping. This may be a good option for people with thin corneas. 

3. Advanced Surface Ablation: PRK, LASEK, EPI-LASIK, Advanced Custom Cornea

No incision at all is required for this type of custom laser eye treatment. Less tissue is removed than with any type of LASIK procedure.

Advanced Surface Ablation is recommended for people who:

• Enjoy playing contact sports such as football, hockey, martial arts, basketball, skydiving, lacrosse, boxing or wrestling

• Work at a job with probable physical contact: Firefighters, law enforcement, members of the armed forces and professional athletes.

• Have thin corneas or have already had previous eye surgery such as Radial Keratotomy (R.K.)

• Have dry eyes with contact lens wear

• Have a large amount of myopia, astigmatism or hyperopia
